Summary
Ms. Garzon has worked at her own chicken-raising business, which provides her primary income, for 7 years. With a loan from the Colombia Project, she will obtain chickens of a higher quality breed to improve her stock. The improved breed of chickens have a lower mortality rate than her current stock, and their proportion of weight to amount of feed is higher, which will increase the profit margin per chicken at market. This increased profit will allow her to move from subsistence income to substantial earnings from her business. Ms. Garzon has received training and technical assistance through the Organization for Integrated Rural Development (ODRI), a rural development organization which assists rural women entrepreneurs.
