Summary
Ms. Betancourt has worked many years sewing men’s and women’s clothes by hand. She has been trained to use sewing machines and seen that they allow her to work much more efficiently. To date, most of her business has come from other tailors in the region who contract with her when they are overloaded with clients. However she has begun to build a base of over 20 permanent clients of her own. With equipment obtained using this loan, she will be able to take on more permanent clients and increase her income, especially around special occasions where demand for tailoring services is high. Ms. Betancourt has received training and technical assistance through the Organization for Integrated Rural Development (ODRI), a rural development organization which assists rural women entrepreneurs. She will continue to have access to information and technical assistance through this organization.
