Project Overview

Id: L140
Name:
Multi-family - Cane Sugar
Type:
Small Business Development
Status:
Repaid

Summary
The 12 hectare Casa Loma farm has fields for cattle grazing and for growing sugar cane, and space for a vegetable garden as well as a place to raise poultry and pigs. With a few improvements, yields in all areas could increase. The finca is submitting a series of grants to achieve these improvements. It will take approximately 3 months to complete these improvements.

The Carlos Aníbal Victoria family is experienced in sugar cane production and will be responsible for preparing facilities for ‘panela’ (bars of raw sugar).  They will work with and help to train other families.

Finca estimates that it can produce 4 tons of cane the first year and increase that by 15% each year through year 3. The agreed sale price is US $ 0.54 per kg., with production costs calculated at US $ 0.35. This economic activity will allow US $ 760.00 to be produced on the first year, which guarantees the payment of the US $ 418, divided in four equal payments of US $ 104.5, to be made in the 4th, 6th, 9th and 12th months.
